Selling Your Own Reviews Independently

Some of you might have noticed a new ‘Buy A Review’ section on my right sidebar in the past 2 days or so. This is a new WordPress plugin which enables advertisers to buy reviews from your blog directly without going through another channel thus you will get 100% of the revenue.

This WordPress Bankroll Plugin comes in 3 downloadable format which is the free version as you can see here on my blog or paid version for single and unlimited domains without link back. For a demo of what the backend looks like: Settings | Payment

There have been a few companies that offered paid blog posts for this purpose. Obviously the bad choice with that is they take a cut of your pay. With the WordPress BankRoll Plugin you keep 100% of the money! The plugin offers a very easy to use submission form followed by a quick payment process via Paypal. The backend is extremely powerfull yet simple to configure. You have complete control over your submissions. With the payment tracking systems it makes it simple to review/edit/approve posts.

I‘ve tried setting it up for a trail basis and it works as per their instructions but it is quite restricted in terms of modifying it to suit your blog theme. Here are some basic modification you can make:

Changing the default ‘Sponsor a post’ title
- Open wp-bankroll.php
- Find on Line 124 : $text = “Sponsor a post”;
- Change to your own title

Changing Title Font and Color
- Open wp-bankroll.php
- Find on Line 124 : $text = “Sponsor a post”;
- Add the following : $text = “<h2>Sponsor a post</h2>“;
- The title would follow your blog’s header title font specs.

For more info, you can visit their support forum which isn’t that active considering this plugin being so new but you can advertise your blog review in the forum.

Now comes the golden question, why isn’t the big boys using this plugin? Well as John puts it, its because of his long standing relationship with ReviewMe and I believe Maki from DoshDosh have similar reasons as well. The simple truth is that being a part of a network is better than going it alone.

So why am I using it then? For two very valid reasons, firstly this blog of mine is relatively new and therefore no chance of being accepted into paid to post services such as ReviewMe and PayPerPost yet. Secondly, I wanted to test it out since I can’t find any online money makers implementing it on their blog.

Wordpress Bankroll PluginWill I be using it for the future? Perhaps yes and perhaps no depending on how well the people behind WordPress Bankroll Plugin market this plugin to the advertisers. If they are able to build a large network of both advertisers and bloggers, then I would probably continue to use it since it is a win win situation for all parties involved. I think this is one of the most important area for Aaron and his team to focus on.
